The congregation of sisters of Our Lady of the Refuge in Mount Calvary(SMC) started their service in Kerala in the year 1975. It was started as per the desire of the Arch Bishop of Thrissur Mar Joseph Kundukulam who wished to provide a shelter for the mentally and physically challenged children . The institution began its work with six children in Cheroor.
Lord showered us with his grace to respect values and to love the poor and needy. Inspired by our foundress St.Virginia, we followed the services whole hearted and in 1997 the institution was registered with 30 students as per Kerala Govt’s Travancore Kochi Literacy and Scientific and Charitable Society.
